Both the Special Marriage Act of 1954 and the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955 are acts to complete the court marriage and marriage registration, but with some key differences.
- Under the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955, people from Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Buddhist religions are eligible to apply for marriage registration. If a Muslim or Christian wants to apply for a Hindu marriage, then they need to complete the conversion first.
- Under the Special Marriage Act of 1954, there is no need for any religious conversion. People from any religion can apply for and get a marriage certificate in Faridabad.
There is another difference in the time required, but in the case of Faridabad, both the acts required 30 days to get the procedure of court marriage done.
